If you’re at some stage of doing your house up- and let’s face it, we all are- the Icovia Space Planner is a handy little flash animation website which allows you to very easy create a ground floor plan of the room you’re decorating and move around virtual replicas of your own furniture without having to unplug anyone from the television or doing your back in.
You can go on it and have a play instantly, but I’d advise opening a free account so all of your room plans and details are saved for future use. After that you simply start room by room, creating your walls, doors and windows to scale.
There's lots of very useful little features, including virtual tape measures so you know how big the sofa really is and how much space you have spare to swing the cat. The range of furniture is very good, themed by room purpose and featuring household appliances, gym equipment and patio accessories so you really can go mad and spend the afternoon planning what your dream lottery house would be like. All rooms you create can also be printed out too- useful for when you're actually out buying the furniture and have an urge to add to your plan- is there really room for that eight foot bean bag chair? Really?
This is incredibly easy to get the hang of, and if you’ve got your dimensions written down already, you could have a replica of your room in less time than it takes to brew up.
There’s a massive collection of furniture to choose from, so you can really go to town and recreate the items you own already or things you’ve seen in the IKEA catalogue that you’re still persuading your other half for.
Guaranteed to keep you entertained on many a rainy afternoon, Icovia Space Planner is essential for any budding designer or simply those of you with a terrible urge to tear off the living room wallpaper and start all over again!
